Marvin

Adopted!
New Name:
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
Breed: French Bulldog
Weight:
Current Location:
Adoption Date:
Adopted by: The Rancillo family
Latest Update:

Marvin had been returned and stayed at the ranch for most of that time. We saw a little bit of nonsense with him with Travis, running up to him to boss him around a little bit, that was nipped in the bud instantly and he never did that again. I can tell you the staff adores this feller and wouldn’t you know a long time client of the ranch saw his post and said can he meet Elsie Bea our senior girl?
We have been caring for the Rancillo pooches for a decade, they used to have 3 but lost two of the cutest damn little Frenchies that ever walked the earth. Elsie Bea was now alone and would like a friend, she is a sassy little nut and we introduced them in the office and the rest is history. Marvin departed with his new family we will see him again for future stays and that makes the staff and all of us very happy.

About Marvin:

11/05/2025 UPDATE:

Marvin has been returned after he was adopted about 6 weeks ago. Marvin is a senior we guess about 7 years old. He was fostered by Millie for a couple of months, came to us with lots of skin infection and very thin from the shelter. Millie enjoyed having him, he is a good boy.

Here is what transpired in his adoptive home. Marvin pretty quickly took some ownership in his home, he would chase the lawn crew and the pool man off of his property. He will bluff a little at some people coming to the home which consists of running up and doing some quick nibbles at shoes. Mille said he did this once at her house to her husband, he was told very soundly to knock it off and that would not be tolerated. He never did it again..

At the ranch this is what we have seen, Marvin loves everyone, is very affectionate, loves to be held and everyone loves him. He has met all of the staff, we even had some staff from the sanctuary come over to meet him to see if we could replicate the behavior. We only had a negative response from him with Travis, he charged over, tried to nibble at his shoes and even jump up to do the same to his hands. He got corrected immediately and that was that. We hired Aaron Stewart to go into the home to assess his behavior and he stated that Marvin is in no way shape or form  aggressive, this is a very easy problem to solve but unfortunately they wanted to return him anyway.

I will shut off comments on this post because there is no need for all of us to express our thoughts. I will try and speak for all of you when I say, adopting a dog requires the desire to solve issues, these are living beings that have experienced things that we don’t know about, and issues need to be dealt with. Marvin needs to not be outside when someone comes to service the yard, he is protecting his space. Good grief you should see Wallace if someone tries to come in my yard, bottom line, he won’t let them in, and has to be called inside and close the door.

Marvin needs discipline if he behaves this way when a person comes to the home, Marvin needs to know that he cannot, and will not charge at any persons feet, he will not jump up at any persons hands, and if he does so he will be corrected. Here is the best news, once he is told this he very easily says okay, that was bad I shouldn’t do that and trots off.

Marvin feeds off of energy and his behavior with Travis at the ranch was at the most exciting time of the day, which is after feeding letting all of the dogs out of their dens to go outside, Marvin feels like he needs to correct that behavior. By the way this is very common behavior, it’s very easy to correct and the girls at the ranch said he almost corrects himself and knows its bad and stops and trots away.

He is like a grouchy old man telling people to get off of his lawn!! 😂

He is a very sweet old man the staff all love and he is ready for adoption again with a home that understands this behavior.

6/20 UPDATE;

Marvin here! I went to see Dr Spencer last week and they said I was a stud muffin!! Then something about losing that loving feeling…hmmmm whatever that means.

Foster mom here.. Marvin has been the perfect gentleman during his isolation period. Thankfully, that’s over and I’m slowly introducing him to my crew. He seems to get along with everyone. Loves to play. Doesn’t get overly pushy. Loves his morning walks and is very inquisitive about everything. He does like to leave his mark and I’ll be watching that as he gets mainstreamed in with the others. He’s done really well in his pen area and goes out and does his business outside so we’ll see how it goes. He knows bedtime and will jump in his crate for his bedtime treat then sleeps quietly all night. He’s such a good boy!

Marvin weighed in at 18.6 lbs … which is down a little but I think it’s because he’s more active now. At about 7 years old he’s just a spring chicken in my mind. He has a lot of years left to cuddle and love the perfect person/family

Meet Marvin! This adorable, and very serious, stud muffin came in to see us today!! He is a new rescue to Dog Ranch Rescue, an organization that we love working with!! His Foster mom, Millie (one of the best fosters out there!!!), brought Marvin in to discuss his neuter, dental cleaning and heartworm treatment plan. We really enjoy working with these rescue babies to get them back on the right track and ready for their FUR-EVER families!!!!!
