We received so many applications for our King Charles Cavaliers and we reviewed each one with great care. Choosing between wonderful families is never easy, but the application from Carrie Ernst truly rose to the top.

The Ernsts had lost their two beloved Cavaliers within nine months of each other and took time to grieve before welcoming a young male puppy, Finn, into their home. Both parents work from home and are very active, taking Finn on daily walks and giving him a full, happy life. But they knew it was time for Finn to have a sister—so they reached out to Dog Ranch Rescue. And that’s when Mary Kay became the lucky lottery winner.

It’s a beautiful thing when a dog wins the lottery twice: first through DRR at the dog auction, and then again with the Ernst family.

She was whisked away to Scottsdale, AZ, given a new name—Lola—a new life, and a big brother ready to show her the ropes.
