Tracye Johnson originally applied for Claudine, but as you may remember, Claudine was quite spicy with other dogs. Since Tracye has multiple dogs at home, we let her know that Claudine wouldn’t be the right fit—and thankfully, she completely understood.

Then along came Maude with her perfect personality and that unforgettable perpetual pout. Tracye had recently lost her beloved English Bulldog, and the moment she saw Maude, she reached out.

Maude will be keeping her name, though during their meet at the Sanctuary she was often called Miss Maude, so that may very well stick. She’ll be heading to Santa Fe, TX, where she’ll have two moms and a full furry family waiting for her: a German Shepherd, two Frenchies, and a miniature Dachshund. We made sure they knew all about Happy Tails because we can’t wait to follow along with Maude’s new life—one that will be infinitely better than the one she came from.
