When Vada Staha first applied, she had several dogs listed as possibilities — but after we talked through what she and her family were truly looking for, she ended up going in a completely different direction. For many of the pups that have been here long enough to determine their personalities have profiles on the website, and Mel’s description fit their home to a T.

Scott and Vada, from Riviera, TX, had recently lost their beloved Frenchie. Scott wasn’t ready for another dog at first, but even with their 9‑year‑old English Bulldog, Harley, the house felt too quiet. Frenchie people know that nothing quite fills that space like another Frenchie.

Mel came into the lobby a little shy, but Vada gently won her over with a few soft pets — and in that moment, she knew Mel would blossom in their home. She’ll be keeping her name, and we’re excited to see her pop up on Happy Tails soon.
