Update on November by Julie:
November is a young grey/white pied girl, who we believe may be 1-2 yrs old. When she came to us she was very fearful and did not want to come near us. While she still has a way to go, she has gotten much better with comfortably coming towards me and being happy and playful about it. She is doing great with all the dogs, playing and laying with them and sharing. I’m still unsure about her with the cats. While she generally pays them no mind, she does display a little behavior that makes me keep a close eye on her with them. She is doing very well in her crate where she eats and sleeps. She does sleep through the night and she likes having her bed in there. I don’t hear a thing from her after putting her in. She is also doing good with not messing in there. She is doing fairly well with house training and with the daily routine however may go inside occasionally. This will be something to continue working on. I have not had her on leash yet so I don’t know how she will react to that and that will be another area work will be needed. While she doesn’t come all the way to me looking for affection, she does seem to enjoy it quite well when I pick her up and hold and love on her and kiss her face. I think with more individual attention, she will thrive very well with people socialization, house training, and hopefully leash training as well.
When she came to us she had a yeast ear infection which she is still being treated for with TrizUltra+Keto and Mometamax. This will require a recheck around 14 Aug.
She is heartworm negative.
She tested positive for Coccidia for which she is being treated with Albon as well as Panacur and Metronidazole for giardia and Droncit for tapeworms. This will require a fecal recheck around 14 Aug. The Panacur, and Metronidazole have 2 more treatment series and the Droncit has one more treatment to be done.
She was given her 1st dose of Heartguard and Nexguard on 30 Jul.
November has not been spayed yet and I believe she is now in heat so she will have to wait until her heat cycle is done.
She has been examined, had all vaccines and is microchipped.
The Rescue responded to a “surrender” of dogs by a backyard breeder in South Texas in July. These dogs were all roaming out on this man’s land, a man who is being charged and tried for animal abuse and neglect. Our wonderful transporters brought home this Month-themed group. The conditions of all of these dogs were appalling, pitiful. This girl is no exception.
The amount of fleas on this girl was astonishing. She is now clean and safe with us and we will have her checked with Dr. D soon. She’s between 1-2 years old, and she’s friendly and learning how to be social. Watch for her to be available soon!
Welcome, November!
