I’ll always remember Poppy as the Frenchie who taught me to never discuss why a dog was surrendered by their previous family ever again publicly. After many weeks with no interest in her we sent her to foster mom Trish’s house to see what she might try while living in a home, but all we heard from Trish is that she was a great girl and she loved her.
Eleanor and Matthew live in Austin, TX. Their application came in a few weeks ago and Laura had extensive conversations with them about why Poppy lost her home so they could understand that we weren’t going to take this decision lightly and they would need to effectively communicate to us their commitment to making it work. Laura and I both were very impressed with this young couple and they did a great job of making us feel good that Poppy was right for them and they would make sure she got everything she needed.
They came today to meet her and Travis was just amazed that Poppy was so excited to meet them like she’s always known them, and was thrilled to see them again. It certainly seemed as if she knew this was her family.
They currently have a 4 year old Frenchie named Henry and have wanted to add a friend for him for a very long time. They know the French Bulldog breed in and out and are committed to giving Poppy everything that she needs to live a happy and healthy life and ultimately that’s exactly what it’s all about.
So you see, whether a family has hit hard times, or whether they a family member that’s ill, or the dog is a challenge for them in some way makes no difference. We always want our fosters back and we recognize that sometimes keeping a dog is not in the best interest of the dog or of the family that adopted her. Life isn’t perfect, situations aren’t perfect, people are human and ultimately we are all just doing the best we can and that’s okay.
I thank you for teaching me a very valuable lesson Poppy, and I’m so happy to wish you a wonderful forever life! 💕
Poppy is a 4 year old Frenchie in good health that is being fostered in Oklahoma, She’s a very good girl who gets along with all dogs. She’s a little bit stubborn and needs a home with direction and good leadership.
