MEDICAL EMERGENCY – Must leave shelter TODAY by 6pm!

Sex: Female
Breed: Bulldog
About Puddles:
I have been on my computer most of the day with the auction and posts to Facebook. This girl came across my feed and I knew we had to help and help ASAP. This is what the post about her said:

A1132302. In critical condition. Female bulldog estimated to be 4yo. Believed to have been hit by car with internal bleeding. If you can get this girl to an ER today, please email DASRescue@dallascityhall.com
I sent a tag to DAS and they responded immediately. I then asked for help to pick her up and of course Ricky Barnes jumped into action this time with Terrie in tow. They told us this girl is literally covered in fleas on every inch of her body, you can see her little tongue is just white from loss of blood. The assumption is that she has been hit by a car and may be bleeding internally.
As Ricky and Terrie arrived they were ready with her on a stretcher, she is not sedated, she is just that sick. They said she could stand but is unable to move due to her medical condition. They gave her a Capstar and told us the fleas were jumping off of her. She is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs 37 pounds.
The ER has been notified of her condition and they are waiting for her arrival. We hope we can save her, and would like to remind all of our auction donors and buyers this is where all of the funds go, always to the dogs..
We hope we can save your life and we are calling this little girl Puddles.

UPDATE 10/25/2021
This little tiny bulldog touched all of us so deeply. In the midst of the last moments in the auction also came the last moments of a dog that we desperately tried to save.
Puddles mattered, and Puddles spoke loud and clear what her wishes were, and all we could do is say okay and let her go while we just cried. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen it, a dog in terrible distress hanging on for hours, and hours or even days, out on the street running for their life to finally be rescued and feel safe, and warm, and loved and that’s when their body is filled with ease instead of stress, and they quietly, safely leave this world. Puddles left but she will never be forgotten. I assure you she will be buried in the memorial garden and will have a stone that will always remind us that she mattered.
UPDATE 10/24/2021
Puddles arrived at the ER, they asked Ricky what do we want them to do if she codes, his answer….
“Do everything you can to save her life”…
I’m so sad to say that Puddles was whisked into the ER and 15 minutes later she coded, they got her heart back but no breathing. This precious baby girl waited for safety and then just needed to let go and go to heaven.
I’m sitting here with tears streaming down my face for not being able to save her, dammit this job sucks sometimes, it is just so heartbreaking. The only comfort we can take is her last time on this earth were with Ricky and Terrie and that is a gift, she felt safe and could relax and then she left this world.
