We were so distraught about what to do with Queso Kitty, we tried so hard to provide her with a good home but we just failed for her at every turn. She was rejected in Meow Town and kicked out by the other cats not even allowing her to eat inside. I failed at my house with keeping my her and Nubbers safe with a gate to keep the dogs out failed and Nubbers was killed. Queso Kitty was terrified and we decided to hurry and move her upstairs with Eva’s cats…wrong we failed again, Eva’s cats turned into terrible bullies and harassed her and bedlam ensued.
We have never tried to adopt a cat out with the rescue but we felt like it’s what we had to do. I had no confidence that we would be able to find a home, Laura and Travis felt confident but not me.
I told her story and added her to the website and wouldn’t you know that I was wrong. We got a lovely application for Queso Kitty right away, Elizabeth Boyer from Sherman Texas is a longtime follower of the page and knew the whole story of Queso from the start. Ironically she said her daughter’s nickname is Queso. All of her pets have passed away and she wanted to give her a home of her own where it would be just her and Queso for the rest of her days.
She came to meet her yesterday and Eva was surprised that Queso was very calm and comfortable with her and didn’t mind just being picked up and given some love.
So just like that Queso Kitty has landed in a dream home of her own, no other cat to bully her and instead just her mama to love her forever.
Makes all of our hearts swell.
Love you Queso Kitty…
About Queso Kitty:
This is going to be a long post so bear with me. Queso came to us with a group of about 6 other orange tabby cats. All feral, all came from a hoarding house. Queso has always been very sensitive and very low with the colony of cats. It did not take long before she was bullied out of Meow Town. We discovered her staying far away on the property and trying to get food in the dumpster. We just could not have that so Travis trapped her and she came to live at my house with Nubbers. She is a precious little cat, a little shy but wants to love her people cautiously.
Tragedy ensued at my house with Nubbers and I could not, and would not, risk Queso being in the downstairs part of my house any longer. She moved upstairs to Evas big room with her two cats Stevie and Mulch. At first it seemed to go well, and then slowly it didn’t. Mulch is a very dominant cat and is bullying her and will not let her come out from under the sofa, he has now started marking in Eva’s room and chaos has blown into full force. Yesterday he bit her on her ear and made her bleed and we have to surrender to this issue and get Queso out of there.
This poor little cat is like the cat that can never find peace, find love without danger or bullying coming at her. It’s just awful, I feel terrible for her.
Eva has gathered her up for now and moved her to the sanctuary, I am sure the brother cats will probably bully her too. We have to find a home for her, she deserves a great home where she is loved and feels safe. We have tried the best that we can but we cannot provide that for her.
So this is a first for Dog Ranch Rescue, we have placed donkeys before and lots of dogs but finding a home for a cat is new to us. The process to adopt her will be the same as a dog or a donkey. I will put Queso on the Available dog page and hopefully, hopefully, hopefully we will find her a home she very much needs.
Please share Queso so we can find her the first cat home we have ever searched for with the rescue.
