Latest Update:

A longtime follower spotted the two new Corgis, Samira and Santos, as soon as they arrived at the Sanctuary. Already experienced with the breed—both through their own dogs and through rescue—John and Angie Mccrary of Wylie, TX, quickly submitted an application.
Today was meet‑and‑greet day, and they brought their three dogs to see how everyone would get along. It couldn’t have gone better. Both Samira and Santos meshed beautifully with their pack, and it was love at first sight all around. Choosing between the two girls was incredibly difficult, but we all agreed that Santos needed some time to grow into herself without relying on Samira’s confidence. Samira is the steady, laid‑back girl who gets along with everyone; Santos is a bit more reserved and tends to follow her lead, even leaning in for pets only after Samira does.
After thoughtful discussion, Samira was the one who headed home with the Mccrarys. After spending 5½ long years in the puppy mills, she’s finally stepping into a life that will be gentler, safer, and filled with the kind of love she’s always deserved. Her new name will be Birdie—a nod to her family’s love of golf.
Happy life, Miss Birdie. We can’t wait to watch you thrive in your new home.
