And then Stella arrived.

From the moment she came into rescue, it was love at first sight for this chonky little girl. We had no concerns about her fitting in with their current dogs—Paco, their Frenchie, and Hank, their yellow Lab. The only question mark was the cats. Her cat test wasn’t dramatic, just… curious. She didn’t show a strong prey drive, but she behaved like she had never seen a cat in her life—interested, a little rude, and very unsure of what to make of them. Mary watched the videos and wasn’t worried at all. She wasn’t even concerned about the two tortoises who live outside in their own habitat.

Stella—now Pearl—has already discovered the tortoises, and it’s opened up a whole new world for her. She can see their courtyard habitat from inside the house, and she is absolutely fascinated.

Now the Zimmermans are off to their river house for some relaxing time away, which just so happens to be one of Pearl’s favorite activities. We truly couldn’t imagine a better life for her, and we’re so grateful that Mary and her family stuck with us while we worked to find the perfect match. Pearl was worth the wait.
