Latest Update:

For this adoption story, we must first go back in time to when a group of mill dogs were rescued by Dog Ranch Rescue and named after the characters from the film, Land Before Time. In December of 2022, there were a trio of mill mamas from this group who were nervous and scared. Swooper was a part of this trio and was sent to spend some time in a home with foster mom Danielle. After a couple of months, Swooper was adopted, only to be returned. So Swooper came back to stay at her previous foster home but showed with confident dogs she would show her true personality…a sweet, silly dog who was nervous in new situations and around new humans. However, just a few weeks ago, former adopter Tamara Chafin had a meet and greet with Swooper. The Chafin family had previously adopted Frenchie Louie (aka Burgess) and they felt it was time to look for a new family member who could be a best friend for Louie. Louie is a confident dog and is ready to teach Swooper how to play and share all the best things about being a dog in a loving home. Today, Swooper became a part of the Chafin family and will join Tamara and her husband in Round Rock, Texas. Along with Louie, Swooper will also have a young adult human sister and a cat brother. Swooper will now be known as Sunny. The Chafin’s are ready to be patient and give Sunny the extra time she needs to adjust to a new home and new people.
Sometimes, there are extra signs at adoptions which seem to say that this adoption is going to be special. Today, on the way to meet foster mom and Sunny, Tamara was driving behind a jeep which had a wheel cover that said, “Here Comes the Sun.”
When it was time to leave, Tamara opened the car door, and Sunny put her front paws up on the car showing she was ready to be lifted in and go! Sunny’s life may have had some twists and turns in the beginning, but it looks like she is off to learn how to have a stress-free life. Happy life, sweet Sunny!
About Swooper:
- Birthdate 1/1/18
- Sweet Swooper was sadly returned to DRR after a year in her adoptive home due to her anxiety negatively affecting another anxious dog in the home. Swooper went directly back to foster mom Danielle’s house and has been doing amazing there. She spends her days running around the yard with her foster siblings, and piling into dog beds while her foster mom works from home. Swooper is a shining example of a dog that was used for commercial breeding for the first five years of her life, and will require an understanding adopter willing to give her the patience and care she lacked prior to being rescued. She has made leaps and bounds in the right direction so far!
