Latest Update:
Toto has finally gone off to live her life with her own family.
She is going to live with Mark and Susan Horner of Longview, TX. They brought along one of their adult sons and had plans to visit their daughter’s family to introduce Toto right after picking her up. This girl will get lots of attention from the various family members which will help so much with her socialization. Her new name is Vin after a heroin in their favorite book.
Happy life, sweet Vin!
Toto was rescued from the valley way down in south Texas that is a place no dog wants to find themselves. She’s a Schnauzer mix and is about 18 pounds but along with her came 6 pups that she had just given birth to. Toto is very busy caring for her babies that she loves but once they are all weaned she will be spayed and she will be looking for a home of her own.
Update:
Toto is just adorable. She was shy when she first arrived but has come out of her shell in recent weeks while in a home. She can jump baby gates and has chewed a dog bed or two. She is eager to learn and does great when redirected to chew bones instead. Now that her puppies are weaned she has stopped jumping over baby gates. Guess she just needed a break. 😊 She does well in a kennel at night with a blanket with no chewing issues. She is a real snuggle bug. She has learned to love holdy time. We have been going to the sanctuary to work on her socialization with other people. She can bark at new people when nervous but I’m confident this will improve with socialization. She gets along well with other dogs. She is potty trained. She eats well. We are working on her leash training. She does well in the car. She loves belly rubs. She is figuring out how to play and uses her paw to initiate play with the other dogs which is super cute! This girl will be a ton of fun for a family willing to give her a little time and patience to adjust to a new environment.
