Riley Hudson has a deep love for the French Bulldog breed. In fact, her parents and sister are all experienced bulldog owners themselves. About a year ago, Riley adopted Griswald, a 4–6-year-old Frenchie, and when it came time to find him a friend, she knew she wanted to adopt through a rescue again. It’s such a rewarding experience, and she wanted to give another dog a safe, loving home.
Then Riley saw Twila on Facebook—and instantly knew she wanted to meet her.
Riley has a flexible work schedule and is able to work from home part of the time. On the days she goes into the office, Griswald attends daycare twice a week, and she also has wonderful friends and neighbors who help check on him if she has a long workday. Twila will be surrounded by love and support in every way.
We held a meet-and-greet on 12/17 with Griswald and Twila, and it went beautifully. The two bonded instantly! After that, the waiting began while Twila completed her heartworm treatment. Riley and Griswald have been patiently counting down the days—and now, the moment is finally here.
Twila is off to Fort Worth to begin her new life, and we couldn’t be happier for her. Riley hasn’t fully decided on Twila’s new name yet, but she’s considering Juniper, with the nickname Junie—keeping with the Christmas theme

Thank you, sweet girl, for being such an amazing patient throughout your heartworm treatment. I’ll miss your squishy little face so much. Have the best life, Twila (or Junie!), and make sure your new mom posts plenty of updates for us.
Twila had her heartworm injections on 1/5 and 1/6 in her back to kill those nasty worms. She now has to go through 30 days of strict rest and restricted activity. This allows the dead worms to dissolve safely and helps prevent dangerous lung clots.
Heartworm treatment is a hard process for dogs—and it’s completely preventable. Twila is young and full of life, and she doesn’t understand why she can’t run and play with Freddy and Pill Bug. That part makes me especially sad.
She’ll be getting lots of extra love during this time—plenty of attention, bones, and toys to help keep her occupied. I’ll leash-walk her every time the others go out so she doesn’t feel left out. The days will pass, and before we know it, luckily, Twila will have the rest of her life to run, play, and be the happy dog she was meant to be.

Twila is an approximately 18–24-month-old, 19-lb bundle of pure cuteness. Her tail never stops wagging—except when she accidentally sits on it.
She’s eating well, taking her medicine like a champ, and heading outside for potty breaks without issue. She does still have a small amount of discharge from her recent surgeries, but it’s minor and improving every day. She sleeps soundly through the night and is truly such a good girl.
I can already tell she’s going to be a little ball of Frenchie mischief once she’s fully healed. For now, she’s on limited activity for the next 7–10 days to allow her incisions to heal properly. Twila is very inquisitive, wants to check out everything around her, and moves fast on the leash—I really have to remind her to slow down and take it easy! (She’s allowed off leash/ out of cone in her small area to go potty or when she eats.)
Unfortunately, this sweet little girl is heartworm positive and will need to complete her heartworm treatment before she’s ready for adoption. But don’t wait—applications are still being accepted, and you can get yours in now!

Emergency rescue is happening now. We got an email from a small shelter about an hour from the ranch with this pretty girl needing emergency rescue right now. Ricky jumped into action and drove to go get her. I called the ER to alert them to what was coming in. We hope and pray they can get this back inside, this is a really bad one. The ER staff will have their work cut out for them for sure.
I don’t know anything about this girl other than what we see in the photos and they are bad, this pretty girl looks like she was bred for the big rope over the nose, which is another one of the fads. UGH… this people…
